Haarlem

A historic city of culture, at 12 minutes by train from inner city Amsterdam, with extensive pedestrian shopping zones and a beach nearby. Haarlem is an attractive town for families with children, as it radiates a more provincial vibe. It is also home to many small high tech companies and start-ups. The white sandy beach stretches out over almost 150 km. All along this coast, travellers will discover miles of boulevards, terraces, shops and restaurants.

Why invest in Haarlem?

Why invest in Haarlem?

Construction on a human scale, the best offering of shops in the country, a wide range of restaurants, hotels and cafés, and a large number of cultural institutions make Haarlem one of the Netherlands’ most highly sought-after cities to live in.

The city aims to keep growing in the next few years to come.

Commercial lots

The Municipality of Haarlem is offering several plots of land for sale at the Waarderpolder business park with a view to facilitating the expansion of the business enterprises currently established here and/or the establishment of new businesses.

There are numerous possibilities for each plot of land. A plot of land that corresponds to the potential buyer’s requirements will be sought in consultation with the potential buyer. The price of the land will be calculated depending on the location, desired construction height and the prospective buyer’s parking needs. This will be between approximately 275 and 350 euros per m2, excluding VAT and the purchasing costs payable by the buyer.

Slachthuisterrein

The Slachthuisterrein is a slaughterhouse complex from the early 20th century and is still in reasonably good condition. It was designed by Haarlem city architects J. Leijh and L. C. Dumont as Haarlem’s first public slaughterhouse. The building is very striking and the other buildings have been built around it.

The municipality is investigating the possibility of redeveloping the old slaughterhouse buildings and grounds. The objective is to turn the Slachthuisterrein into an icon of the region and the city that is both economically sustainable and has a recognisable profile. In doing so, this piece of cultural heritage will be preserved.
