PARK21 description
PARK 21 comprehensive destination
PARK21, with its ideal location, rich history, and wealth of stories, will be much more than a park. It will become a comprehensive destination that appeals to both local residents and visitors. It will showcase a wide variety of Dutch stories; presenting to the visitor aspects of the place and culture that make it unique. Finally, and most importantly, it will be authentically Dutch, placing emphasis on developing a destination that appeals to a sophisticated audience not by pandering or simulation, but through authentic experiences that are conceived to entertain and enlighten.
The west part of PARK21 the masterplan consists of a Parkhart on the banks of a recreational pond. This Parkhart will be the center of the recreational destination with space for hotels, restaurants and leisure activities based on watersports.
On the westside of the PARK, between de railway and the highway a Leisure Zone is planned which will focus on (inter)national visitors. Immersive attractions supported with Retail, Dining & Entertainment (RD&E) will provide the visitors a true Holland experience.
Stories of Holland
The primary purpose is to offer visitors those exciting connections to the stories of Holland by placing them into the settings and giving them context as to their significance and importance. Here the visitor would be afforded a visceral connection to the experience through attractions that are designed to be entertaining and informative. The interpretive experiences, the places where the visitor can actually engage with the stories being told, would be distributed throughout the remainder of PARK21 and beyond.
PARK21 lies in a region that is incredibly rich in history, culture, and geography. Millions of visitors are drawn to Holland every year to explore these distinctive characteristics. PARK21 is situated on a 1000-hectare site located within the Haarlemmermeer municipality between the towns of Hoofddorp and Nieuw Vennep, a short distance south of Schiphol Airport. The site is easily accessible by car with its location adjacent to the A4 Freeway, which connects PARK21 to Amsterdam, Schiphol Airport, Leiden, The Hague and Rotterdam and beyond. The site has easy intercity railway access with its proximity to the Hoofddorp railway station north of PARK21.
