On this location the Toekomstwijk (Futurequarter) Zwemmerslaan will be built. The terrain measures more than 2 hectares and the aim is to realise a sustainable residential district here. With objectives as green, circular, sustainable and innovative, we aim at a special and durable project. There is space for about 130 dwellings in the middle and higher segment. Self-built housing and demand-driven building are important projects.

On the Zwemmerslaan 2-4 (Schalkwijk) there used to be a school. The terrain is over 2 hectares and the objective is to realise a sustainable residential district here. This durable project "Toekomstwijk Zwemmerslaan" is all about sustainability, innovation, green and circularity.
High sustainability ambitions
The development coincides with the big transformation of Schalkwijk, which is really on the climb now with developments like Schalkwoud (green living/working area) and the renovation of Centrum Schalkwijk. The planning area can play an important role in al this, regarding the high sustainability ambitions. The renovation of the Schalkwijk shopping centre will take several years, carried out in phases. This will transform the old shopping centre into a modern and attractive district centre. The plans for the new construction that are part of the first phase will contribute to improving the quality and residential atmosphere of the surrounding area. This centre will house other facilities as well, and the public space will be renewed. The three sites to be renovated in this phase include Floridaplein, Nicepassage and the northern part of Andalusië. Shops, restaurants, cafés, a parking garage and new-build residential property will be built on Floridaplein. Across from this, Nicepassage will feature a cinema, restaurants, cafés and shops. These developments will transform Schalkwijk into a lively and multifunctional city district centre.

The Fietsznfabriek is located on the river Spaarne on the eastern edge of the city of Haarlem in the ‘Scheepsmakerskwartier’. Houtmarkt 7 is a national monument. The complex is located near the access road to Haarlem city centre and in between the railway stations of Haarlem Centraal and Haarlem-Spaarnwoude. The new build on the Oostvest side shall be a key element in the Haarlem conservation area’s appearance.
