CBS: Owner-occupied homes more than 7 percent more expensive in July

Published on 14-09-2020
Existing owner-occupied homes were 7.4 percent more expensive in July 2019 than in July 2019. The price increase has fluctuated around 7.5 percent in the past 4 months. This has emerged from research into the price development of existing private owner-occupied homes in the Netherlands by Statistics Netherlands and the Land Registry.

After a peak in August 2008, prices of owner-occupied homes fell and reached a low in June 2013. Since then, there has been an upward trend. In May 2018, the price index of existing owner-occupied homes was higher than the record level in August 2008 for the first time. In July 2020, the index reached its highest level ever. Compared to the trough in June 2013, prices in July were 49.7 percent higher.

More transactions for existing owner-occupied homes in July
The Land Registry announced that it registered 22,571 housing transactions in July. That is more than 7 percent more than a year earlier. In the first seven months of this year, 129,073 homes changed hands, almost 7 percent more than in the same period of 2019.
