Sustainable residential project in Lelystad, developed by VolkerWesselsPublished on 12-07-2018
The municipality of Lelystad has signed a purchase agreement with real estate developer VolkerWessels to build 28 ‘MorgenWonen’ (LiveTomorrow) houses in the Warande quartier. This unique building method makes it possible to assemble the dwellings in just one day! The results are: less CO2 emission, less traffic pressure, a greener use of raw materials and less hindrance for the environment.
The agreement was signed at real estate fair Provada by Marcel Schipper, director of VolkerWessels and deputy mayor of Lelystad Ed Rentenaar. ‘MorgenWonen’ will build houses in the middle-rent segment: there is an increasing demand for rental dwellings in this category in Lelystad. All houses will be gasless, sustainable and energy efficient: the future tenants will have no/minimal energy costs.
Alderman Ed Rentenaar states: “Lelystad is part of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, where the pressure on the housing market is big. Lelystad can offer the solution for many house seekers: offering more free rental sector houses is part of this. Warande, the biggest new building location of Lelystad, has a varied offer of social rental houses and owner-occupied homes, but no free sector rental dwellings yet. Recently the building of the first investors’ lease property houses has started, now VolkerWessels follows with 28 rental houses in this sector. This makes Lelystad and especially Warande more interesting for several target groups as place of residence.”
