Zuidas will receive a residential tower with 216 apartments for startersPublished on 12-11-2020
The Municipality of Amsterdam and Woonstichting De Key have signed an agreement for the development of a residential tower for starters in Zuidas. The tower contains 216 social rental homes for starters up to the age of 28 and was designed by LEVS architects.
The starter apartments will be located on the currently empty site opposite the VU and football club SC Buitenveldert. An area with a lot of knowledge-intensive activity and where a new residential area with 2,700 homes is planned. The starter apartments are expected to be completed in 2024.
It is precisely in this part of Zuidas that De Key wants to develop starter apartments. It is part of a new neighborhood where a total of 2,700 homes will be built with accompanying facilities such as a theater, catering, supermarket and primary school. In this neighborhood are also the Campus of the VU, the AUMC, and many startups and scaleups around "health, life and science". South Station is within walking distance.
Eelco Siersema, Real Estate Director at De Key: “A lot of young professionals work in this neighborhood on Zuidas, which is why this is a logical place to develop homes for this target group. Home starters up to the age of 28 will soon be able to move into an affordable starter home and move on to another home after 5 years. During this time they are building up a valuable network in the Amsterdam Knowledge Quarter. ”
Starting, growing and moving in Zuidas
The apartments vary from 25 m2 to 60 m2. The complex will have a roof terrace with a sports field, a green inner garden and a communal living room where residents can meet, organize or work together. There will be a shed for bicycles and scooters but no parking spaces for cars. The building will have light materials and glass, many balconies and vertical greenery along the facades. The design of the LEVS architectural firm has been selected by De Key in consultation with the municipality of Amsterdam, from registrations with sketch designs from three different Dutch architectural firms.
